![]() The next flicker coming in October at the Echo in Los Angeles will be a special screening which will celebrate Kodachrome. Kodak recently announced that Kodachrome will be discontinued later this year. So Flicker fests around the country are celebrating one last K-40 blow-out. This is a call for filmmakers to celebrate kodachrome by shooting and making a new short film. These Kodachrome films will be screened at flicker at the ECHO in early October (final date tbd). THE RULES: The films must be shot on Kodachrome super 8 (or 16mm). The filmmakers are responsible for buying their own film and sending it for processing. The films must be under 5 minutes long. I prefer to screen the actual films, but if you want to transfer yours to video that’s fine. You can edit your film as you see fit. You must have some sort of music or narration or sound fx for your film. The films should arrive to Flicker by October 1. I will accept the films or the films output to VHS, DVD or mini-dv. Remember, you can edit your film how you see fit. and also remember, this is a celebration of Kodachrome - this is a very slow film - meaning you need a lot of light to expose it properly. exterior day is always great with K-40, but if you want to shoot interiors, make sure you have plenty of light... Filmmakers interested in participating please let me know so I can prepare the program. send me info - the ideal email would read something like this: I'm going to make a kodachrome film. I'll be shooting over the next few months and will email you the title and running time when i'm finished. I'm hoping to edit on film, I'll probably borrow a splicer from someone. I'll make sure and send you the film or a VHS, DVD or mini-dv copy by Oct. 1 thanks! Kodachrome super 8 is available directly from Kodak (800 621 FILM) or their walk in film sales office on Santa Monica, just east of Highland. Kodachrome should be sent to Dwayne's for processing. They’re the only lab in the states that processes kodachrome super 8 and 16mm! Transfers (if you want) can be made at the Echo Park Film Center (213) 484-8846, or Yale Lab (818) 508-YALE. Call for pricing... Good luck! Send your completed films to: Norwood Cheek Flicker 6310 1/2 Primrose Ave. Hollywood, CA 90068 ![]() |
